Verdon Gorges

On the right bank of the Gorges

On the way you will discover:
Moustier Sainte Marie, famous for its earthenware, its 12th century Notre-Dame de Beauvoir chapel and its hanging star.
A little bit farther, the Galetas belvedere from where you will have a panoramic view of the Sainte Croix lake and its emerald green water, sometimes blue depending on the Mistral and the weather condition.
The tuf de Saint Maurin waterfalls and its caves which have housed the Lérins monks in the 5th century.
The Mayreste belvedere and the quiet atmosphere of its old castle converted into a farm, Passing through the Ayen pass (1,031 m) you can see some chamois, then you will go down straight to La Palud sur Verdon, fief of the Counts of Provence with its 12th century Romanesque bell tower and its 18th century castle, famous and unmissable loop on the Route des Crêtes, amazing 24 km of belvederes and canyons where you can see climbers on the rock faces and the majestic tawny vultures of the Verdon.

A few kilometers to the north, the must-see old abandoned village of Châteauneuf les Moustiers and to the east Rougon, an eagle-shape village and its Point Sublime overlooking the Couloir Samson, a real fortress guarding the entrance of the Gorges.
